Label-free real-time cell analysis by using the xCelligence platform

A new innovative platform, the xCELLigence System (Roche Applied / ACEA Biosciences Inc.) has been purchased by Avidin (in the frame of GOP-1.3.1-11/b-2011-0002 grant). It monitors cellular events in real time without the incorporation of labels. The System measures electrical impedance across interdigitated micro-electrodes integrated on the bottom of tissue culture E-Plates. The impedance measurement provides quantitative information about the biological status of the cells, including cell number, viability, and morphology. A wide range of cell-based assays for both high throughput screening and research laboratory environments can be performed on the xCELLigence System.
Avidin has optimized a screening strategy based on the xCelligence system to screen cytoprotective compounds (Ozsvari et al. A cell-microelectronic sensing technique for the screening of cytoprotective compounds. Int J Mol Med. 2010 Apr;25(4):525-30.).

Label-free 3D Cell analysis by using holographic microscopy

A new innovative microscopic technology, HoloMonitor™ M3  (Phiab) has been purchased by Avidin (in the frame of GOP-1.3.1-11/b-2011-0002 grant). Phase Holographic Imaging´s HoloMonitor™ M3  is the first totally non-invasive live cell imaging microscope/cell analyzer. The HoloMonitor™ successfully combines the excellent picture quality of the traditional microscope with the analytical capabilities of more specialized cell analyzers such as the flow cytometer, spectrophotometer and hemocytometer.
Avidin is using the technology for evaluating/screening in primary cells, test immune functions, toxicity and QC.

Protein-protein/ Protein-small molecule interaction screening by using the Enspire Multimode plate reader

A new, label-free screening platform, the Enspire system  (Perkin Elmer) has been purchased by Avidin (in the frame of GOP-1.3.1-11/b-2011-0002 grant). EnSpire® is a truly unique multimode reader featuring the first bench-top optical label-free system alongside traditional labeled technologies.
Avidin is using the technology for screening small molecules for interaction with G-protein coupled receptors, fragment-based screening and for target-driven drug discovery projects.
